## On writing papers
I got some pretty good resources from the ImageCLEF organisers
general advice on structuring/writing CLEF papers:
- Simon Peyton Jones, How to Write a Great Research Paper, .
- Justin Zobel, Writing for Computer Science, .
Abstract: A "Kent Beck" summary needs only 4 sentences:
- 1. State the problem
- 2. Say why it's an interesting problem
- 3. Say what your solution achieves
- 4. Say what follows from your solution
Body of text. This should contain information on:
- tasks performed
- main objectives of experiments
- approach(es) used and progress beyond baselines or state-of-the-art
- resources employed
- results obtained
- analysis and discussion of the results
- perspectives for future work
A typical outline is:
- Section 1: Introduction
- Section 2: Experimental Setup
- Section 3: Experimental Results
- Section 4: Discussion and Conclusions
